About Dian

Dian McCarthy has been an effective advocate for her community for over two decades.

Her early career included working for her family’s insurance agency and then a custom cabinetry business she ran with her husband. It is there that she learned first-hand about what it is to run a small business in NH and the challenges small businesses face.

Dian went on to become the Executive Director of a local non-profit organization serving the youth and families of Goffstown. In this role which she held for 10 years, she worked on the front lines of mental health services, substance misuse prevention, juvenile justice and leadership development gaining acute knowledge of the statewide environment, gaps in service, and the impact of grant funding.

Dian has also served 3 consecutive terms on her local School Board, serving 6 years as the Board Chairperson and 7 as the Board Rep to the Budget Committee. Under Dian's leadership, the Board transitioned from a period of failed budgets and poor public confidence into an era of transparency and strong public support.

Dian’s recent leadership roles include the Vice Chair of the NH Juvenile Court Diversion Network Board where she helped guide the statewide network through a period of significant growth and transition, and President of the NH Breast Cancer Coalition where she advocated for breast cancer survivors and treatment advancement on the state and national level. She has also sat on the Our Kids Commission, a committee of the Episcopal Bishop of NH working to close the opportunity gap for children in NH, volunteers on her church outreach committee providing aid to local community members in need, and volunteers for a program helping local families with school lunch debt.

When she is not working for positive change in her community, Dian enjoys hiking and spending time with her family and dogs.
